Sheldon Tarakan

After a long battle with cancer, Sheldon Tarakan died peacefully on Saturday morning, July 7th, with his wife Sharen and with his children Emily and Dori at his bedside.

His funeral was on Monday, July 9th at 12:30 PM at: Gutterman's Memorial Chapel 8000 Jericho Turnpike Woodbury, LI, NY 516 921 5757

In 1990 Shelly was one of the founders of the Prader-Willi Alliance of NY, Inc. and served a number of terms as Vice President. He used his skills and experience as a pubic relations person specializing in not-for-profits to edit and produce our first Alliance newsletter in 1991. This gave great credibility to the Alliance right from the start.

Separately from the Alliance, Shelly, in the mid 90's, founded, edited and published Prader Willi Perspectives, which was a journal dedicated to all aspects of Prader Willi syndrome.

He will be missed by all that knew him.
